- Is there a limit to the number of contacts I can enter into
Addressinator!
| There is no reasonable limit to the number of
contacts you enter in a licensed Addressinator!
database, as the limit is that set by the database
which is 30 terabytes (or 16 terabytes if using SQL). |

- Can I customize the reports and labels that come with the
Addressinator! installation?
| Yes - Addressinator! includes an internal report
designer so that you can customize the existing sample
reports and label reports. And the internal report designer includes a Wizard to
make it very easy for you to create new reports, including
new label reports.
The Wizard includes specifications for hundreds and
hundreds of different label sizes for Avery Labels, AOne,
APLI, Devauzet, ERO, Formtec, Herma, Hisago, Herlitz,
Kokuyo and MACO labels.

- Can multiple people on my network access the same
Addressinator! database simultaneously?
| Yes - we provide full steps in the Help file on
how to configure Addressinator! for network use so that
multiple people can access the same Addressinator! database
at the same time. You can configure the Addressinator! database for use
with the free Firebird Server, the free Microsoft SQL
Express 2005, or use Microsoft SQL Server.
Network users can be set up with a username and password,
and rights (either to read only, or to read/write, or
read/write/delete) in case you want to restrict certain
users to just the ability to view and not edit.

download and install Addressinator! 4, and

features and changes in Addressinator! 4 Addressinator! 4 installs to a different folder and uses
a completely different database, so there is no effect on
your old version of Addressinator!
When you are ready to
purchase, you will need a copy of
your old version Addressinator! key and registered name
before proceeding with the purchase, or your original ShareIT order reference number
to be eligible to purchase at the discounted price.
Your Addressinator! 3 key and registered name is
accessible for copy from the Addressinator! 3 menu Tools ->

- My keycode I received has a 7 day Install By date - what is
this?
| Once a keycode is applied to Addressinator!, the keycode
is maintained in the database along with all of your data,
and the keycode never has to be re-applied. In the event of a loss of the database (your computer
crashes or you lose your computer, etc), you would download
the trial Addressinator!, install, and restore your
Addressinator! database file from backup.
Restoring from backup means not just recovering your
license - it also means recovering all of the contacts you
have already entered into Addressinator! - so no need to try
to re-enter.
Because the keycode only needs to be applied once, the
keycode has an Install By date so that no one else can use
your license.

- Can I apply my key-code to multiple Addressinator! databases?
| No - as per the Addressinator! license agreement, a
license must be purchased for every Addressinator! database.

- What computer requirements are needed to be able to run

| Only the database file itself is needed to be backed up.
You can backup the program files but they are not
needed to be backed up as you can always download
and install the Addressinator! program using the
installation file, and than restore your database
file from backup.
If installed taking the defaults for single user, you
only need to backup the ADDRESSINATOR.FDB database file as
that holds all of your entered contacts, your report
templates and your license - refer to the Help file for
details for
backup and restoring for Basic Stand-alone Installation
If have configured Addressinator! for network use using the
Firebird Server, refer to the Help file on
Backing Up and Recovery for Firebird Server Configuration
If have configured Addressinator! for network use using the
Microsoft SQL Server, refer to the Help file on

- I tried to import my Addressinator! 3 database, but received the message "Import failed:
I/O error for file CreateFile (open) *Addressinator.FDB* Error
while trying to open file
 This error may occur because of
different reasons:
1. This may occur because you are trying to import contacts
into a trial Addressinator! which is limited
to entry of a total of 25 contacts
You can easily see if you have a licensed or a trial
Addressinator! database by selecting menu Help -> License to
see if it is registered to Unregistered trial

If you would like a 30 day no limitations key-code to
fully try out Addressinator! (enter as many contacts
as you want, print reports with no watermark, import
Addressinator! 3 data and/or import other contacts, etc) send the following
information to support@addressinator.com
- Your full name (first and last)
- Your company name (if applicable)
- Your full address and contact information
- Your request to be sent a full temporary activation
key-code
- **IMPORTANT** identify whether require stand-alone
single user license or network multi-user license
2. This may occur because there is something held
open with the Addressinator! 4 program that is
preventing the import from occurring.
- Exit out of the Addressinator! 4 program
- Reboot your computer completely
- Start Addressinator! 4
- Do not open any other menus, contacts, etc
but go directly to the File -> Import ->
Contacts
- Select the Files of Type: Addressinator! 3.1
database (.gzx)
- Move to the location of the Addressinator! 3
database file that is on your local hard drive
and select it and continue with the import
3. This may occur because you are licensed
for the single user stand-alone version of
Addressinator! 4, and need to edit the
Addressinator.exe.config file as per the steps
in the Online Addressinator! Help file section

4. This may occur if there is an issue with
your Addressinator! 3 database file.
- Zip up your Addressinator! 3 databse
file ADDRESS.GZX using WinZip and attach to

- Include in your email confirmation that
you have confirmed the above 3 possibilities
- Include in your email your registered
company name
- Include in your email whether your
license was for a single user or multi-user
network

- After configuring Addressinator! for network use, you
receive the following error "The feature you are trying to use
is on a network resource that is unavailable"

Perform the following:
1. Delete the Addressinator! icon on the desktop.
2. Create a new Addressinator! 4 icon on the
desktop by right-clicking on the desktop, select New
-> Shortcut -> browse to the Addressinator.exe
file in the C:\Program Files\Ground Zero
Tech-Works Inc\Addressinator\ folder
3. Now run the new Addressinator! 4 icon on the
desktop by double-clicking on it |
- After configuring Addressinator! for network use, you
receive the following error the first time it is run
"Addressinator was unable to start .... An Addressinator!
multi-user license is required to use a database server"

This error occurs because you MUST
apply a multi-user database license key-code to your
database BEFORE you configure for
network use
Perform the following depending on what network
configuration
If had configured using the Firebird Server
network configuration:
- make sure all attempted instances and
running instances of the Addressinator! program
are shut down
- shut down the Firebird Manager on the server
(this is very important!) via the Control Panel
- move the ADDRESSINATOR.FDB
database file back to the Addressinator program
folder on this server
- rename your existing
Addressinator.exe.config to
Addressinator.exe.confignetwork
- rename the
Addressinator.exe.config.DEFAULT_EMBEDDED_VERSION
to Addressinator.exe.config on this server
- run Addressinator (which will run the
stand-alone instance)
- apply your key-code that is for a multi-user
license (you MUST apply before its Install By
date)
- move the ADDRESSINATOR.FDB database back to
the network Firebird Server location it was at
previously
- rename the existing Addressinator.exe.config
to Addressinator.exe.configlocal
- rename the Addressinator.exe.confignetwork
to Addressinator.exe.config
- start the Firebird Manager on the server
again
- now when you run Addressinator! it will be
connecting to the networked Firebird database
If had configured using the SQL Express network
configuration
- make sure all attempted instances and
running instances of the Addressinator! program
are shut down
- use the SQL Studio Management Express to
delete the ADDRESSINATOR database (never
directly delete SQL database files using
Windows Explorer)
- rename your existing
Addressinator.exe.config to
Addressinator.exe.confignetwork
- rename the
Addressinator.exe.config.DEFAULT_EMBEDDED_VERSION
to Addressinator.exe.config on this server
- run Addressinator (which will run the
stand-alone instance)
- apply your key-code that is for a multi-user
license (you MUST apply before its Install By
date)
- re-do Step #4 in the Addressinator! Help
file to Create the Addressinator! SQL Express
Database

If you receive the following error

System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException
Inner exception: Unable to complete network
request to host
This may be because the server where the
networked Addressinator! Firebird database is
located on has a firewall
What you need to do is allow port 3050 for local
connections - as Firebird Server needs to have this
port open to allow local area network connections to
access the server. |
- What do I do if I receive the error "SQL Server does not
exist or access denied" connecting to a networked Addressinator!
SQL database?
If you receive the following error
Addressinator was unable to start
Error details:
Unhandled Exception:
Exception has been thrown by the target of an
invocation.
System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException
Inner exception: SQL Server does not exist or
access denied.
This may be because the server where the
networked Addressinator! SQL database is located on
has a firewall
What you need to do is create an exception for
sqlsrvr.exe

- I am using Vista with the stand-alone single user
default configuration of Addressinator! - is there any possible
issues with Vista I should be aware of?
If using the stand-alone single user default
installation of Addressinator! with Vista be
aware that if Vista's UAC (user access control) is
turned on, you will end up with a "virtual" copy of
the Addressinator! database
For example:
- let's say that you have a Vista computer,
you have installed Addressinator! to it taking
the defaults which installs the Addressinator!
program and database file to C:\Program
Files\Ground Zero Tech-Works Inc\Addressinator
- when you log into your Vista computer, Vista
actually creates a "virtual" copy of the
Addressinator! database from the C:\Program
Files\Ground Zero Tech-Works Inc\Addressinator
folder into Computer/Users/yourname/appdata/local/virtualstore/program
files/ground zero tech-works inc/addressinator
and all your data is actually entered into this
virtual database file
- make sure you are backing up the correct
database file that has your actual data in it
This does not occur if Vista users are accessing
a networked Addressinator! database, or an
Addressinator! database file that is not located in
the Program Files folders

to reporting and printing questions
- Can someone create a custom report / label for me?
| Sure, we can! Most report / label reports will
be $55.00 each. Provide detailed information on
what you would like the report/label to look like:
- if a label, be sure to provide the make and
# as well as its dimensions
- provide a mockup showing layout and
what fields from Addressinator! where
- specify font, size, etc
Provide the above information to us - refer to
the Contact web page
Once we receive all information, we will send you
a URL link to pay the customization fee. You can
usually expect to receive your report / label report
within 24 hours or less of payment received.

- The sample label report templates do not show the postal or
zip - how can I fix this?
| This is very easy fix. The sample report templates have a
"combined city state zip" field that uses a script to
display the city, state and zip so there is a standard space
between each on the line. The script incorrectly is using the datafield APOSTAL
when it should have used APOSTALZIP
To fix, do the following:
1. Open up the report template via the Report Designer
(tutorial - how to customize an existing report template -
see the Help file

2. Click on the combined city state zip datafield (refer
to the tutorial on how to customize an existing script but
instead select for the combined city state postal - see the
Help file

3. As shown in the tutorial in #2 above, edit the script
itself - where it presently says APOSTAL, edit so that it
says APOSTALZIP
for example, in the 8160 AVERY label report template, in the

edit instead so it says

4. If you now click on the Preview panel in the report
designer, you will now see that the postal / zip now shows
on your label.
5. Save the report template and exit the designer

- After activating Addressinator! with your license key,
report templates that were created while in trial mode still
have the Trial Sample watermark on them when
printing.
| If you have now licensed Addressinator!, do the
following: 1. Open File -> Report Designer
2. Open any report templates you created while in
trial mode
3. Click on the Properties tab at the bottom
4. Open the Watermark property which opens the
WaterMark edit screen.

5. Select the Clear button in the bottom right
hand corner of this edit screen and than click OK to
accept.



6. Save the report template.
Now when you print this report template, that
"Trial Sample" watermark will no longer be there.

- What fixes are in the Addressinator! 4.1 QuickFix?
Addressinator! 4.1 fixes:
1. Fixed issue where an error would occur if click
on Member column in the Group Membership tab.
2. Fixed issue where Addressinator! would have to
close if entered text in an invalid email address
format into a field that has a data type of Email
3. Fixed issue where if did not enter a first name,
middle name, last name or company name, the contact
would not show in the drop down selection and only
show on Group printing.
4. Fixed issue where if created a report template in
trial mode, the Trial Sample watermark would still
show even after licensing. |
